Was Jesus Really Dead??
As a young man, Josh McDowell set out to prove the Resurrection of Jesus was fake....however he ended
up becoming a Christian after careful research.

A man named Venturini developed the "swoon theory" which teaches that Jesus never really died...
however we can examine Scripture (and history) to see how impactful Jesus death and resurrection was.
The swoon theory supposes that Jesus merely fainted from low blood pressure and later recovered
making Christ's disciples merely think Christ had risen. The "swoon theory" is a myth.

Crucifixion is highly painful and difficult to describe: it causes dizziness, cramps, thirst, starvation,
sleeplessness, traumatic fever, tetanus, shame, long continuous torment, horror of anticipation,
unattended wounds....all while conscious.

The unnatural position made every movement painful...and after hours of going through it, Jesus was

Read John 19:30 - 35   Why did the soldiers not break Jesus legs? How many Roman soldiers knew
Jesus to be dead? Who is the man mentioned in verse 35?

Mark 15:42 -47  How many eyewitnesses of Jesus death are mentioned in these verses?

Matthew 27:62-66   Were the chief priests and Pharisees convinced that Jesus was dead?

The world was changed 2,000 years when this God/Man Jesus accepted the punishment for our
sins and died on the cross. We know God accepted His payment for our sins because Christ
rose again...the TOMB was empty!
