The Chairs (Plus Swinging Spoons)
Place 2 chairs facing each other. Let one represent mankind and the other God.
There is a gap...the gap represents sin which separates us from our heavenly home.
No one can go from chair to chair by doing good things or by ignoring their sins....
But thankfully the Lord God sent His Son to earth to die for our sins and take our
punishment and provide a way to restore mankind to Him...(place a board between
the chairs). This board represents Jesus. Because of Jesus you can be forgiven
and have a relationship with God and have a home with Him in heaven. (you could
now place a string on the board from chair to chair and explain some think salvation
is a tightrope and they are constantly in danger of losing it...but remember your
salvation isn't because of "things" you do but a gift from God.) The board is sturdy
and firm and Jesus salvation is firm and He will continue to make you more like Him
each day.
Swinging Spoons
Supplies: 2 chairs, string, 2 spoons, scissors, & tape.
Setup: Place two chairs three feet apart and create a "tightrope"
by hanging a string from one chair to the other. Cut two additional
strings each aprox 18 inches. Place the extra pieces on the rope
and tie them to your tightrope allowing them to hang down.
Finally tie each string that hangs down to a spoon.
When you are done you should have a tightrope with 2 spoons
hanging down.
What happens: Swing one spoon and watch what happens to
the other spoon.
Object Lesson: When we share Jesus death and resurrection
with others, others will be inspired to share Jesus too! Someone
shared Jesus with me and now my goal is to share Jesus with
you.
Memorize Act 4:12 "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there
is no other name under heaven given among men by which we
must be saved.”
